Red
Thursday 29th August 2002 11:20 pm

Annoying as not going fencing tonight as can’t get a lift. Was feeling bored after The Bill, but rang Emma and had a conversation that didn’t involve blokes at all :) We did discuss hair though. I have this urge to dye mine red. And by red I mean RED. Trouble is, my hair is so dark no hair dye would make enough of a difference, so you’d have to bleach it first and that tends to last for a while. I only want to do it red for a few weeks. Think I ought to go and watch Vets, send some e-mails and go to bed really now. Really ought to take advantage of my landlady not being here and catch up on some sleep. Would watch some satellite TV as well, but there’s just nothing worth watching (at least nothing that doesn’t clash with The Bill).

Ice skating
Tuesday 27th August 2002 7:22 pm

Can’t believe its Tuesday already. The weekend didn’t really feel like the 3-day one for some reason. I did get loads of things done. The website’s finished, I just really wanted to use pipex’s stats, but they are being useless, so I will have to get another Bravenet account (which means more junk mail). Then I will upload it and take down the old one (shock! horror!). There are some bits that need updating, and others I haven’t bothered with because they need lots doing to them and I need to get it done. I made a few CDs, but need to get some more mp3s before I can do more. It was excellent, although by Monday night I realised I wanted to go back to work, otherwise I’d have been bored if I’d had another day of that. Still didn’t play any computer games though.

I went ice-skating on Saturday, which was really good. I realised I hadn’t been for a year and I really missed it. The skates were horrible though, they really cut into my ankles, more than at Planet Ice or Ice Trax ever did. I must go more often though. It counts as exercise though. Which is good because I finally decided I need to do something about the stone I’ve put on since I left uni. Its horrible to think I actually have to do something, but more exercise (walking doesn’t count because it doesn’t seem to work for me), but eating less. The last time I did that was for an entirely different reason, but I did lose half a stone that way. So I’m not eating between meals now (except in the mornings when I’m at work because its such a long time between breakfast and lunch). Sadly I’m still in the hungry stage, but it’ll go. It has to, otherwise I’m in danger of having even more problems buying clothes than I do now!

The Kiss
Monday 26th August 2002 12:02 am

I tried creating one of those cool trading cards at livejournal, so of course it doesn’t work with my look and I’m too tired to mess about with the HTML. Plus I’m sure livejournal is doing something strange to it. Having used blogger and livejournal I think I prefer blogger. I think livejournal is good for communty-type things, but I don’t have time for those anyway. I have enough community stuff of my own going on anyway.

I can’t believe the discussions on the forum going on at the moment about the kiss. I didn’t like it, but that was more because of the circumstances surrounding it, and because I knew Hywel didn’t like doing it. I don’t know exactly why, he must have known that playing a gay character would mean having to kiss a bloke at some stage. I’ve also just realised thebill.com answered all the questions I had about Sean (ie they’ve been going out for 2 years and he’s a computer programmer). Although I wouldn’t call 2 years the “all these years” Sean claimed they’d been together, but still.

Tired because keep waking up early (like 8am) which is really annoying when I don’t have to. Maybe I should stay up later tonight in the hope that I’ll sleep later, although it probably won’t work and I’ll end up getting even less sleep.

Midsomer Murders
Friday 23rd August 2002 11:16 pm

I switched over to Midsomer Murders at 9.30 to see the second half as I couldn’t be bothered getting up. It looked quite interesting so I left it on. A few minutes later, the characters walked out of the theatre and it looked suspiciously like the Corn Exchange in Wallingford. But I thought, no, it can’t be. They showed it again later with view of some of the other shops, which all looked quite similar. I went and asked my landlady, and yep, it was Wallingford! That is so amazing. I was living in Causton (sp?) and never knew it. I hoping they’re going to film some more sometime soon now!

Then of course I looked it up on the web and they’ve certainly been around. Not that I know any of the other places, I don’t have much of a need to go to any other dead little villages. I was going to go to bed at 10.30 because I was tired. Never mind, at least I get three lie-ins now. I hope!

The Bill shock
Thursday 22nd August 2002 10:22 pm

Calming down a bit now. I was in a state of shock over tonights Bill. In my defence it was very dramatic. I felt tired before the episode started, but by the end I couldn’t stop moving – just nervous energy I think. I had a really boring day at work as well, as there wasn’t much work on really. Which is kind of a good thing at the moment.

I think my landlady’s gone on holiday. Her car and toothbrush are gone and I know she’s supposed to be going soon. Its just as well I didn’t let the cat throw up on the video then. I think I will get an early night while it is quiet. And it is nice to get some peace and quiet, it does my head no end of good. Which is probably just as well, given that I’ve nearly run out of pills – didn’t quite manage a pill free day today, sadly.

Virgin sent me a 5 pound voucher – which is not 25% of 40 quid. I checked their passengers charter on their website and it says if the trains are late so you arrive at your destination an hour or more late you are entitled to 25% of your ticket price. Also, if you have to wait at a station for an hour they’ll provide you with free drinks. Which is very interesting. I’ll wait to see how much I get for the journey up there, then I’ll get another complaint form to complain about the complaint. Maybe it was because I used a different address they didn’t know it was me, so are trying to fob me off, thinking I don’t know the system. Well, they have another think coming!

Leeds
Wednesday 21st August 2002 9:27 pm

Haven’t updated for ages. What’s been happening since then? I went up to Leeds for a long weekend, and it was really good to see all my friends. It was kind of scary at first as it was a strange Northern place with people whose accents I couldn’t understand. But it was okay. The rows of terraced houses look really bad, and make it all look really dodgy, but it seems to be quite a cool place. And Stargate in Spanish, what can I say! Needless to say the trains were crap, and I left work at 5.30 and got to Leeds at 11.30 at night. Coming back took 6 hours as well. So I’ll get 20 quid back off it, which is something.

I was the only person in my department last week, and to top it off I managed to get flu. It wasn’t really bad, but worse than a bad cold. I felt crap, but I still had to go in and work form 8 till 6. I’ve now done 6 and a half hours extra since the start of July, and because our system’s crap I don’t get to see any of it. I might try for the sympathy vote though. So last weekend I spent lying on my bed watching Ewan McGregor. So it wasn’t all bad! :) Not quite feeling better yet, but getting there. And not dreaming of work which is a big improvement.

I’m planning to work on the site this weekend. I might put it up before its done, because there’s loads of stuff needs doing in the Bitz section, and because I’m moving servers and changing address I need to change things like guestbook, stats, webring, which of course isn’t simple. I also want to go to STA Travel, I need to go to Tescos, and I want to play some computer games, as I haven’t had the time for ages. And get Enigma out of the video shop, as it has Hywel on it.

Its worrying how being obssessed about Eastenders/Big Brother/football is considered normal but mention anything sci-fi (or even The Bill) and suddenly thats sad. Everyone at work seems to be getting married at the moment, which is quite sad too. Conversations in our office seem to involve houses or cars (the buying of). Both of which I’ve never done and have no intention of doing for a long time. So its not really a surprise that I don’t really take part in them much. Don’t think I’ll have the energy for fencing tomorrow, which is kind of annoying because I miss it. But I do get to see The Kiss live. Not entirely certain its a good thing though!

Free Reg!

Trains
Thursday 8th August 2002 9:56 pm

I’m now a fully qualified first aider! I just hope I never have to use any of it. Its going to be really shit going back to work tomorrow now. Especially as I went in on my way home to find out I’ve got loads of work to do. I’m going to have to go in early as well, to get it all done. I can’t leave late as I’m off to Leeds for a slightly long weekend. And if I leave work on time and Virgin is on time (v unlikely, I know) I’ll get there about 10pm. Thats 4 hours on the train! And I can’t not go because I’ve bought the ticket and it cost a small fortune. Coming back will be interesting though, as most of the trains seem to require you to go through London and my ticket doesn’t allow that, as its more expensive to do it that way.

I did get my photos back from Wimbledon and the London Trip though, which was good. I’ve even put them on my website already. I reckon it’ll have about 100 pages when its done, which is a lot to do in one go. It is down a lot from the 200 pages the old site has. I am getting there, I can see the end in site. I’ve got some updating and spell-checking to do, but otherwise only one section has lots of things missing that need doing. I must get an early night tonight, as it’ll be an early morning, a long day and probably a late night.

The Bill
Wednesday 7th August 2002 8:57 pm

Not done much again this evening. Actually getting really bored of being in. Although I have just realised that I might not get to see tomorrow night’s episode of The Bill until Monday! Or maybe I could take the video to Emma’s with me – then I can bore her by saying “met them” every few minutes! Every time I go on a London Trip I just get atotal Bill obsession afterwards. I should be getting a Farscape video soon though, so maybe it’ll turn into a Farscape obsession given that I’ll have to watch 3 or 4 episodes in a day or two probably.

I’ve been very bad and not done any of my website, although I’m feeling bored now, so I will probably do some for an hour before I watch TV. Feeling kind of scared about the First Aid assessment tomorrow. I do know the stuff and I think I can at least make a guess if I don’t know anything, but I’d really much rather check someone I know for injuries and put them into the recovery position. And the bandaging. I might have to ask how it works beforehand, although then again I might be better off not knowing!

Hopefully I’ll get my photos tomorrow, which I’ll have to sort out so my parents can look at them before I go fencing. Found out that Scott Neal (who plays Luke Ashton in TB) is only a year older then me! And he’s also played a gay character and previously kissed a bloke for it, which is interesting. I wonder how that affected his kiss in TB? What is really scary is that Ciaran Griffths (Gary Best) is a year younger than my sister (so 4 years younger than me)!

Website
Tuesday 6th August 2002 7:45 pm

I have done some work on my website! Today I’ve done the photos pages (at least for the ones already there, haven’t done the new ones yet). I had to do one of them twice though because I accidently overwrote it and it wasn’t in the recycle bin as its still being crap. Remembered something I forgot from Tescos! My back hurts, I think from bending over at the first aid course. I will lie down and rest it soon (nearly Bill time). Its even nice enough today to peg my washing out, which is good.

I’ve also spent rather a lot of money on the SG3 and SG4 videos. I’ll order the SG5 ones at SG5 I think, it’ll be slightly cheaper at least. I was good and didn’t buy any Ewan McGregor videos off Blackstar. I checked for The Bill videos and it said The Trial of Eddie Santini (despite not being out for very long) has been deleted! Which is actually quite annoying as I missed the end of the episode due to the video cutting out. Although its old news now.

Stuff
Monday 5th August 2002 10:16 pm

Got in at 4.30 today, then really couldn’t be bothered to do anything! Because I slept in yesterday I wasn’t tired enough to go to bed at a reasonable time, so I’m tired again now. You just can’t win. I did at least do my statement (eventually) and got my Tescos shopping, and they actually managed to deliver everything for the first time ever! I think thats pretty much the theme for this week, at least till Thursday when I get to rush about. I must do some of my website. Trouble is I tend to feel dynamic and getting things done first thing, so its really hard to go to work and come home and do all the things I’m supposed to be getting done. I really want to lie on my bed and watch something crap, but there’s nothing on. At least all the things that are on are too crap. Wish I had UK Gold. *sigh*

I knew there was something I hadn’t done – the puzzle! Off to do that now then, and send a text message, I think.

Weird day
Sunday 4th August 2002 11:48 pm

I haven’t updated for a while due to spending the last four days (not including today, I was sleeping today) at The Bill studios. When I look through the list of the current cast I’ve actually managed to see most of them (except for Hywel Simons who wasn’t in, damnit). Been a really weird day today. Slept in late, so not tired now, which means I won’t get much sleep tonight and so I’ll be tired all week. You just can’t win. Watched two episodes of Stargate, and the Andromeda episode with Michael Shanks. I still don’t understand the Andromeda character at all. But he looked good, so never mind. And the Farscape was just weird. Which I suppose is typical Farscape really.

Haven’t been to work since Tuesday, and not going back till Friday, which is cool. I’m off on a four day First Aid course from Monday. Then Friday I’m going to Leeds to see some friends (hoping they’ll rearrange the Emmerdale-Bill cricket match to then, but I doubt it as it’ll be too short notice really) and not coming back here till Monday. Then things’ll be back to normal, which will actually seem quite strange! No more days off till the end of October. Long time really.

I was going to watch some late night Enterprise, but its a crap one, so maybe I’ll read some fanfic instead. Didn’t quite manage to watch 24 earlier due to it being really boring. They should have finished at 8am, its been really patchy since then. I’m looking forward to the end just so it’ll all be over. I’m expecting the usual American saccharine ending, but hoping everyone’ll die, which’ll be much more interesting. But won’t allow them to have another series, which I don’t think they should do anyway. The only reason it’s done well is because its original, which is a feature a second series won’t have.
