Drabbles
Saturday 28th June 2003 9:07 pm
I thought I wouldn't do any of the weekly drabbles this weekend, but I did anyway. Having completely failed to work on anything I thought I would. *sigh* Um, apart from some dodgy limericks, that is, but they don't count either.
Farscape - Stars
Stargate - Feeling
TPM - The Secret Diary of Obi-Wan Kenobi aged 13 3/4 - although that's the first one I've failed miserably at actually being 100 words. Oh, the shame.

Wimbledon
Friday 27th June 2003 7:10 pm
This week's Friday Five (on Friday!)
1. How are you planning to spend the summer? Working. I don't get enough days off not to.
2. What was your first summer job? On the checkout at Somerfield. Well, I started it in the summer but it was technically a Saturday job during sixth form.
3. If you could go anywhere this summer, where would you go? Wimbledon
4. What was your worst holiday ever? There isn't one. But then I haven't been on holiday much
5. What was your best holiday ever? Eastern Europe
Went to Wimbledon yesterday. Sat on Henman Hill for a bit, watching Henman. Endured the heat and John McEnroe commentating until the silly women in front of us decided to smoke. Which considering the number of people squeezed onto the hill was completely selfish. So we went to try out our speed of serves - I managed a fairly respectable 46mph.
Saw a set of Agassi's which was boring. Watched a set of doubles - Bjorkman and Woodbridge were unsurprisingly winning. Watched Serena Williams' match, which had its moments. Spent time looking at her father through the binoculars and trying to work out if Venus was there.
Saw more doubles, one of whom was Lee Childs. Our blokes lost. Thought about joining the re-sale queue for the centre court battle with Roger Federer and found out Venus and Serena were playing doubles on Court 1. Threw people out of our seats and it turned out to be the most interesting match of the day! It was cold, and getting dark by the time they left and 1 set all and 3-3 in the third. The tube was boiling, and busy and we missed our train. Want to do it all again next year.
Five Live just did a Big Brother style round-up of the week at Wimbledon which was quite funny. Sadly though, their coverage finishes at 7pm so when they come back on court (which given it hasn't rained here for a bit will be soon) I might have to mute McEnroe.
It was depressing going back to work after going to Wimbledon, but HASA erupted with funny (and dirty) limericks, so that cheered me up. All the challenges are up for the drabbles, so might do those this weekend.

Harry Potter
Saturday 21st June 2003 9:33 pm
Friday Five on Saturday (never mind):
1. Is your hair naturally curly, wavy, or straight? Long or short? It's wavy, although tending towards curly when it gets long. It's kind of that in between length, which means down to about my shoulders. It probably needs cutting actually.
2. How has your hair changed over your lifetime? Lots. And I mean lots. It's been every length from short (and I do mean short) to long (partway down my chest). It has always been the same colour though.
3. How do your normally wear your hair? Down. I have layers, so most of them are too short to do anything with. Plus I'm crap at doing things with hair and my hair doesn't like having things done to it. I put it up for Tae Kwon Do and fencing, and when I get hot.
4. If you could change your hair this minute, what would it look like? Red I'd quite like to see what it looked like if it was straight though.
5. Ever had a hair disaster? What happened? Nope. Kind of hard to have a disaster when all I do is run a brush through it each morning
Did my weekend drabbles (go me!). Okay, so did them on the train, but still.
Farscape Friday dead characters - Last Act
Stargate 100 with title from a Farscape episode - The Way We Weren't (I made this 100 words on the first draft as well!)
TPM 100 space - Distance
I can't believe how many shops were selling the new Harry Potter, I really can't. I got most of the way through the first chapter when Waterstones air conditioning hit me, along with the thought that I need to re-read book 4. I'm not in the mood for Harry Potter at the moment. I think the second film put me off a bit. Wonder if it comes out in paperback in time for Christmas?

Lots of memes
Tuesday 17th June 2003 7:59 pm
Thinker Elrond: You like your Elrond as the intellectual, the thinker, the loremaster. You'd spend hours just talking about the way of the world with him.
Which Elrond Is For You? brought to you by Quizilla
Well he certainly talks to me. Doesn't shut up, in fact. Has a severe case of verbal diarrhea.
Friday Five, late, I know:
1. What's one thing you've always wanted to do, but never have? Travel outside of Europe, I think. Although I'm doing that in November. Can't think of anything else at the moment, although I feel sure there's plenty.
2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest? Yes. That's not necessarily a good thing though. Sometimes I should learn to just keep my mouth shut rather than tell people what I think.
3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn't? What happened? Had to think about this one, but yes. I'm not telling though.
4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why? You mean I can only pick one
5. What's one talent/skill you don't have but always wanted? It would be quite helpful if I could sleep through anything. I think I'd just like to be better at everything I try.
And since it is Tuesday, I'll do the Two for Tuesday:
1. What's the most recent thing/event/occassion that you have forgotten -- that you really should have remembered? If there was anything I've forgotten it.
2. How do you remember significant dates? Do you mark them on a calendar, use Outlook's calendar, have a great memory? I have a good memory actually The non-significant ones (like what I'm doing at weekends) I write in my diary

Up Late
Sunday 15th June 2003 11:43 pm
Would be going to bed but have housemate in the bath syndrome. Would have gone in there earlier, but was watching Stargate (Jonas and Daniel were so cool together! (not in a sexual way, of course)).
Got sicced by a Nuzguling on the HA list, wrote a drabble for TPM100 (Suspense) and LOTR100 (Memories)
The definition of nic (courtesy of The Inifinite Teen Slang Dictionary): nic n. a collective or quantitative noun for drug paraphernalia. "Dad, that's a whole nic of drug paraphernalia!"

Drabbles, mainly
Wednesday 11th June 2003 10:37 pm
I finally finished the Stargate fic I started in Easter 2002. Actually it was nearly finished in a couple of months, then I spent a year trying to think of a title. Seeing the episode its based on on Channel 4 helped, mind you. So, I present to you, Protector.
The Farscape Friday slash drabble - The Morning After the Night Before
and the Stargate100 firsts drabble - I Scream for Ice-cream.

More drabbles!
Monday 2nd June 2003 10:49 pm
I've been enjoying writing drabbles for Farscape, so I found ones for Stargate and Star Wars TPM. I would go and write some fic now (or more accurately, edit some) but I think I'll do the puzzle instead.

Writing
Sunday 1st June 2003 4:16 pm
I am having another productive weekend. I wrote two drabbles (2!) for this weeks challenge - Strange Encounter is an Farscape/Enterprise crossover and A Difficult Negotiation is a Star Wars TPM/Farscape crossover.
People are tying to indoctrinate me into Jack/Daniel fic - not gonna happen though unless its funny or friendly. I am going to Paris in November with some of them though. Although I've been hanging round with J/D slashers for a while though and I ain't been converted yet.
I actually have a fic thats 2300 words long and I'm not sure its long enough! Mind you, I also have a 12,000 word one I'm not sure is long enough.
The Sentinel is on Stargate today so I ought to watch it and then maybe I'll finish the fic! It would be nice to get the nearly finished ones finished so then I'll have less to do. I'd quite like to go back to the Enterprise one though - maybe set it in the time it takes them to get to the Delphic Expanse. Must spend more time on the Trip/T'Pol board, I think.
