The Bill Live
Friday 31st October 2003 11:54 am
I was very impressed with the live episode of The Bill last night. Since it was done in real time it made it seem so much more real. It's a shame that the storylines meant that not everyone could have been in it though. There was lots of action, I was practically glued to my seat! And that hasn't happened for a while, usually I have to be doing something else at the same time, otherwise I get bored.
The most annoying thing though, is that usually I put the TV or video on at 7.59 and get 'previously on The Bill'. I was out Wednesday so I switched the tape over at 9pm for Teachers and it cut off the end of The Bill! The tape started and I got the end of Coro, so I wasn't impressed. Especially as I put the TV on Thursday and just missed the 'previously' bit. Just when I needed it as well...
On the police topic though, I saw two mounted policemen in Oxford on Saturday. I've only ever seen them in Trafalgar Square at New Year (and it didn't half make the place stink of horse shit).

LOTR Recs
Sunday 19th October 2003 8:54 pm
Haven't updated for a while because I've been busy. Not sure what I've been busy with mind you...
A couple of angsty twins recs: The Search and Lost
Neither finished, but a nice bit of angst over missing Elrohir's. I've also been discovering the Stories of Arda site, which is nice and quick, has a search function and you can leave and reply to reviews.
I went to the Lord of the Rings exhibition at the Science Museum yesterday which was very good. Made me want to watch the films again to see all the things in the exhibition! It was good to meet up with people I'd only met online as well.
I'm going to America in two weeks! I'm starting to get excited, think about packing, and its kind of scary at the same time. I've never been on such a long flight before. I think going to SG6 and meeting up with people the night before will help and take my mind off it. And it'll be good to see my friends again as well.

Angel, Dead Like Me
Tuesday 7th October 2003 8:35 pm
First up a rec: How I Spent My Summer Vacation by Elladan son of Elrond. Its completely ridiculous and very funny.
I finally saw the new episode of Angel the other night. Looks okay so far - not enough Wesley though!
I've started watching Dead Like Me as well, which is really good. Its funny, although its possibly slightly worrying when you find yourself laughing when someone dies and their blood gets splattered over George's shirt.
I was going to get all sorts of things done tonight but I ended up reading the sequel to the above rec instead. And now I only have half an hour until Taggart, Wife Swap and (at 9.30) They Think It's All Over is on. Thank goodness the latter is repeated so I can safely tape one of the others.

TV
Friday 3rd October 2003 8:21 am
I've just taken a survey about Blogger. The last question they ask is whether you live in the US. The second to last question is household income - in dollars. Well, that is helpful. It's just as well I know that college means university as well, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to answer the education question.
Anyway, I was really here because I don't have to leave for work for 20 minutes and I've been ready to go since 10 to 8. Which is when my alarm goes off. I keep waking up at 7am and it's doing my head in now. Except for tomorrow, which is roughly when I have to get up.
I'm now simultaneously watching The West Wing series 3, 4 and 5. Yes, I am confused. But then I'm confused watching one at a time anyway, so no change there then. I have an episode of Dead Like Me that I'm sure worked fine when I checked it at work yesterday on an old version of media player. Here though, I've tried media player, three versions of DivX player and real player and it won't show me a picture. Which really doesn't make sense.
I have to say though how funny Wednesday's Teachers was. How married are Kurt and Brian (or is it Briony)

Personality Quiz
Thursday 2nd October 2003 7:55 pm
I was going to try the memory thing but ended up doing the personality quiz at http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/tv/humanmind/ instead. Here's what it said about me:
Extraversion Your answers suggest that you have a preference for the quieter setting, preferring the company of just one or two people to large crowds. This may help you if you work in a quiet, ordered or solitary setting but you may find things less comfortable than most if you are constantly interrupted.
Confidence You seem to have described yourself as someone who does tend to be quite cautious and careful. This can be very important in detailed work or areas were mistakes can have a major cost although you may find yourself avoiding risks and many cautious people wish they were bolder.
Openness Your answers suggest that you may be reluctant at times to consider new approaches and ways of doing things, but that you understand the value of tried and proven methods and of lessons that have already been learnt.
Agreeableness Your answers suggest that you are not prepared to put up with being messed about with and are quite comfortable being direct with people, even if this upsets them. You may therefore find it frustrating working in an environment that is very polite and where upsetting people makes it harder to get things done.
Conscientiousness Your answers suggest that, like most people, you like to have a little clarity about where things are but that you would rather cope with some things as they arise than spend too much time sorting out every single detail. This approach may help you when working with teams and also when having to deal with those situations that you just can't plan for.
And now for Jaye Griffths back on The Bill.
