Big spoilers here for the final episode. Don't read this if you haven't seen it, or if you haven't seen any of the series but might, because being spoiled would spoil it.

I remember reading an interview, ages ago, where they creators said in the first series it would look like Sam's in a coma. Which I thought meant that therefore he isn't. Or that it's a double bluff and he is.

Once they continued with the coma thing in series 2 I wondered if that meant it was true therefore. Although the Hyde phone calls were strange.

When Frank Morgan revealed Sam was undercover I really didn't want that to be the truth. If it was, how come Sam knows stuff about the future? Although he could have been unconsciously making it up.

So I was glad when he woke up and it really was a coma. And he was in Hyde Ward! Except that seeing him in modern clothes, going back to his life was really unsatisfying. I don't know whether that was because he was unsatisfied, or I was used to seeing him in 1973 or I was disappointed it was over, I don't know. I half expected him to try and find out about Gene, Chris, Ray and Annie but he didn't. Although if he thought it was all a dream, then why would he. And if they were real, they were dead anyway.

I'd like to think they were real and he put himself back in a coma to get back there to save them, and because they were his friends. But that doesn't explain Frank Morgan. So it seems more like he killed himself to get back to his fantasy world. Which is a bit screwed up in a way.

I was satisfied with it, just sad that there's no more.

At least until next year and Ashes to Ashes. Although I'm not convinced by them essentially doing the same thing, because where's the mystery in that?
