Only a few more books to go!
What Katy Did at School by Susan M Coolidge
This one bored me a bit. Possibly because I got used to other boarding school books, but the school in this one sounded horrible. And it wasn't the same without all the other kids in it, I don't think.
Pulling Princes by Tyne O'Connell
This is ladyvivien's fault since she mentioned it's a boarding school story with fencing in it. I liked it, it was entertaining fluff. Only trouble is there are three more books that come after it, so I'll have to read those now.
Human Nature by Paul Cornell
I thought I'd read this before the episodes of it. I did read it over a long period of time so that could be why I found the ending confusing. It was an interesting story, although I didn't quite understand why the Doctor decided to be human. I'm not sure how it'll work without Benny in it, but then that could be because I really like Benny.
The Bad Mother's Handbook by Kate Long
I picked this up in Smiths while waiting for a train because I thought the title was interesting. I read the first chapter and meant to come back to it. Then I forgot about it until the version on TV. Since I liked that, I thought I'd read the book. It is quite similar, although the book was more realistic, I think, and I preferred the book.
Can Any Mother Help Me? by Jenna Bailey
This was reviewed in the copy Guardian Weekend that I picked up in America and sounded so good I bought it. And I was right, it was very good. It was mostly stories that women had written to a secret magazine, organised by topic and between 1930s to 1970s. It was really interesting to see what their lives were like and to hear about some of the things they got up to. The magazine really was just like a message board or forum, just on paper and posted around.
Doctor Who Short Trips: Companions
These were a bit variable. I liked most of them, especially the Jo one and the Sarah one, which surprised me. But some of them were just weird and I didn't quite understand what was going on. It was really interesting, though, to get the views of the companions and their lives before or after the Doctor came into their lives, and in some cases, while they were travelling with him.
