So everyone can hear it: http://www.paranoidangel.me.uk/noise2.wav. It's a 259k file - ignore the first 2 and last 2 seconds where I was getting to the other side of the room where it's loudest. And turn the volume up - I might need to fiddle with my audio settings, but I could do without the background noise for that.

If anyone can tell me:
a) what it is
and more importantly
b) how to stop it
or
c) where my neighbours are so I can get them to come home and stop it.

I might have stopped being rational about it - must be time to leave the house.

Hey Nic! I have had a listen and the only thing I can think of is some sort of wasching machine / dunmble dryer - but it desnt exlain why it hs been going on for a week ...

I feel your pain though - my neighbours hve gone away and left the dog .. it barks all day and all night. I have had about 5 hours sleep over the past 2 nights and I am getting irrational about it too ...

I hope it gets sorted soon! Do you rent? is there a management / maintenance company that you can contact?

Ouch about the dogs - sleep deprivation is a form of torture. So is noise, at least according to Spooks.

I do rent, so I am going to speak to the estate agent tomorrow - they might know something. And either way I can point out that it's unliveable with.

Nic, weird noise I can't think what it is. You could see if the council can do anything about it.

Emma, if your neighbours have left the dog with no-one to look after it then I believe that they are breaking the law, the council or RSPCA should be able to advise.
