Last night’s Torchwood (spoilers)
Thursday 31st January 2008 8:45 pm

I'm sure it had a title, but goodness knows what it was. It was the one about 1918, though.

Spoilers:

I loved seeing the old Torchwood, that was quite cool. And Tommy finding out about the new world, one year (day) at a time. And that the second world war was three weeks after the first :) I quite liked the relationship between him and Tosh and how heartbreaking it was when he had to go back to 1918.

However, I thought Gwen in the hospital getting spooked was completely pointless. It just went on for ages for no reason. Generally, the whole thing was slow. I looked at the clock when I thought the episode was nearly over and it was only 9.15. It really didn't help that it was so obvious the timeshift was going to be then and the whole episode was spent waiting for them to work it out and then sort it. The whole thing could probably have only been 20 minutes without missing any of the plot.

There's also a bit of a major plot hole, in that Tommy was the only one who could save the world. Well, actually, he was the only one because he was chosen to be. It could have been anyone. And even if it had to be him, he didn't have to be frozen to do it. He does it when he's in 1918. All they had to do was chuck the key through the timeshift with instructions, and got Torchwood in 1918 to do it.
