I’ve Never Seen Star Wars – August wrap-up
Friday 31st August 2018 8:00 pm
This month I did something I hadn't even considered at the beginning of the month: I tried out hair styles.
While it was really hot I was putting my hair up every day and I got bored with doing the same old thing all the time. So I searched about on YouTube, found some hair tutorials and gave them a go. They were always harder to do than they looked and some of them I found didn't suit my hair. Some of them I had to practise. When it got less hot I looked up styles where you didn't have all your hair up.
I really enjoyed it. I don't think I've gone with the same style twice, except for practise. Doing my hair differently has made me feel different. And I've finally learnt how to do a french plait, which I always wanted to do when I was younger and never could.
So I'm giving it 10/10.

Not summer any more
Wednesday 29th August 2018 9:08 pm
While it was summer and hot I got used to not doing lots of things, including posting here. It got less hot, but then I did some of the things I intended to do over summer, but it was too hot to do. Except for when I was too busy working - we had a couple of weeks of it being crazy busy.
But it really feels like it's not summer any more. It's nearly September, the weather is very autumnal and the things I do in the evenings are about to start up again. So I should get used to posting here again.
I bought two amazing things this month: a shower head and a fidget ring.
My old shower was a bit like a dribble. I did some research and came up with one that most people said was more powerful than what they had before. And bought a new shower hose as well, as the old one looks old and dirty, plus one of the rings is coming off, which made me wonder how long it would be before it sprouted a leak. It turned out to be a good decision because when I took the old shower hose off, green stuff came out... And the new shower head is so much more powerful. I can't believe how much cleaner my hair is. I possibly don't need to wash it as often any more. I should have done this years ago!
Fidget jewellery was something I learnt about on Ask a Manager, of all places. I am incapable of sitting still. I used to have Russian wedding ring type rings, but then it became impossible to find new ones cheaply (because I always lost them) and I just had ordinary rings, which I couldn't play with as much. Now I have a fidget ring from etsy. It's just two beads on a band, which doesn't seem like it's that exciting, but I very quickly found there were an awful lot of things you can do with two beads that really keep my hands occupied. It is great.
In non-buying things, Sammy continues to very slowly mostly get less scared of things. I am still on step 1 of hamster taming, which is putting food on your hand, so they have to put their feet on your hand to get at it. He does it quite happily and is really interested in sniffing my hand, but the slightest hint of any movement and he's off. He was toilet trained, then he moved his bed and now doesn't wee in his toilet. He is anti-toilet trained...
In a new record for me, within the space of a week I managed to injure both big toes, bruise both knees and burn two fingers and a thumb. Plus plenty of other bruises. Housework is bad for you.
And that's pretty much the highlights of my news.
