Update
Tuesday 2nd August 2005 10:23 pm

I have been good and updated my website. Including music video recs that have been sitting around on my hard drive since January...

I was supposed to be playing tennis tonight but I stil hurt too much for that - but I can move a lot more than yesterday. So I'm not actually out a single night this week, so I am trying to be good and get things done. It's working so far but there's still plenty of time for it to go downhil...

I was followed home by a dog today who was very nice and just sat and wagged its tail while I stroked it. Which was more pleasant than next doors dog who is a bit enthusiastic - which is hard work in a big dog.

Oh, how I love technology
Monday 24th January 2005 11:07 pm

I finally finished the Rotaract website, got the guy to upload it, then discovered I'd completely cocked-up the contact page. Anyway, now it is all fixed, I just need him to re-upload it (and hope the logo doesn't get corrupted again).

My e-mail, on the other hand, is not working. Again. On the plus side, I just have to message dad about it. Freeserve also likes to randomly mark emails as spam, even though they're not. And even though it won't mark similar ones from the same place as spam, even with really similar headers. Anyway, I just found out it decided a review I had from SoA was spam! The worrying part is I got a review for the same story, the same day and that wasn't spam. Hmm.

I have updated my website though. And made a little 'new' icon. It's red, of course. And it's two months till I go to Australia. I'm so not ready.

Things to be thankful for
Tuesday 14th September 2004 9:35 pm

Nilmandra wrote about things to be thankful for and it was quite timely for me because I was really stressed out about various things this morning. Part of it was work, part of it was Rotaract and not knowing things for certain. But I got more work done today than I thought I'd get through (although I did get to one point where my vision went funny and another point where I didn't think my right shoulder was going to let me go near a mouse again) and I've just come back from a meeting. We're having a chocolate day on 25th, so everyone's excited about that.

I also got a letter this morning to tell me I was the person who won their place at Conference free! Which is to the value of 174, so I am amazed. And great because I booked my flight to Australia at the weekend so I am now broke.

When various people post/tell me about crap stuff going on in their life I realise how grateful I am I don't have that. But I'm also grateful I have a roof over my head, a job and friends. No matter how much I might winge about the first two, at least I'm not leaving on the streets.

I do have proof that I am a rain god, though. On Saturday I did my washing. I pegged it out in the afternoon, went in, got as far as thinking about sorting out the stuff I'd bought in Reading (mostly food, I have to say), at which point it chucked it down. So I got my washing in, which by this point was wetter than when I'd pegged it out. By the time I'd got all of it, and me, inside it stopped raining. I decided to go for a simple life and leave it in. So it didn't rain at all for the rest of the day.

I've also been redesigning the Wallingford Rotaract website, which is currently a fairly generic one shared by other clubs in the district. I've just copied the text over, since I'm more worried about the design than the words, and the contact form doesn't work but it can be found at www.paranoidangel.me.uk/rotaract. If anyone wants to take a look and let me know what they think, as long as it's honest, I'd love to know because I know they look different on different computers.

DVD!
Saturday 28th December 2002 7:48 pm

My
Martouf 87 %
Martouf comes complete with Lantash, his Tok'ra symbiote, although Lantash is quiet most of the time. Marty is a romantic soul, but there's a darker side to his character...

Which seems fair enough to me.

Have finally managed to update my web site as well now. Plus another fic rec, this time for Alias: The Invitation by Rhonda. Thinking about the 100 Things about me meme as well, might get to that at some point.

Going to buy a DVD next week! I'm all excited and so broke its unreal. And don't get paid till Tuesday.

Bond fencing!
Monday 2nd December 2002 7:52 pm

Saw Die Another Die today. Very interesting fencing kit Madonna's wearing. But the rest of it was so white! I know thats because its new (and expensive) but even so. And I liked the way Bond was magically hooked up to the electronics.

The definitely cut a bit out of Farscape. When they're in the doctors office and D'Argo is feeling Noranti's 'intense pleasure' he goes towards Crichton, who tells him not to come near him when he's feeling like that. I remember it as well. Only one more episode, then we'll be ahead of the Americans, yay!

Have actually updated my website, must upload it, write an e-mail to the mailing list and update my bookmarks as well - I'm getting to the point where I can't see all of them any more.

Strange
Saturday 30th November 2002 3:04 pm

I'm actually updating my site! I keep on having all these good ideas for it, so its slow going at the moment. Plus I'm kinda bored and downloading this weeks Buffy. I must go and look up some more fic recs as well, I'm sure I've read some good stuff since I last did any. Had a strange dream last night about swmming. Whats strange about that you ask? Well, the fact that bunnies were involved for a start.

Going to watch Enterprise now, which I let dad download. Maybe some more later.

Seven Chevrons and Fandom Meme
Tuesday 5th November 2002 10:41 pm

Some fun for a change.

Seven Chevrons

Chevron 1:
What is your favourite Stargate SG-1 season?
I do quite like the 3rd, there's some good stuff in there

Chevron 2:
Who is your favourite Stargate villain?
Has to be Apophis

Chevron 3:
Who's your favourite minor character?
Martouf

Chevron 4:
Which team (other than SG-1) would you want to be on?
Can I cheat and say SG-D?

Chevron 5:
If you could be on a SG team, what position would you want?
One where I'm not likely to die or suffer from a bad case of snake in the head

Chevron 6:
If given the opportunity, would you become a Tok'ra host? (if yes, what would your symbiote's name be?)
I might actually. Although what a Tok'ra would make of the things that go on inside my head I don't know. Not sure about the name though.

Chevron 7:
If you played a character on the show, what would they be like?
Um, Major Klein perhaps.

A meme I found somewhere (whatever that is, I think I sort of get it)

The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it: Farscape

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets: Babylon 5

The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy: Red Dwarf

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: Time Trax

The steady: Stargate

The alluring strangers whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with: Blakes 7

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't: Charmed

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere: Star Wars (original trilogy), Andromeda

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?: Earth: Final Conflict

The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly: Dark Angel, Smallville

I have updated the site at least today. Done a couple of hours of work at work today. Caught up on Angel episodes. Still haven't watched last weeks Have I Got News For You. God, my life is boring. As was the bits of Return of the Jedi I watched while I was hanging my washing up.

Ice skating
Tuesday 27th August 2002 7:22 pm

Can't believe its Tuesday already. The weekend didn't really feel like the 3-day one for some reason. I did get loads of things done. The website's finished, I just really wanted to use pipex's stats, but they are being useless, so I will have to get another Bravenet account (which means more junk mail). Then I will upload it and take down the old one (shock! horror!). There are some bits that need updating, and others I haven't bothered with because they need lots doing to them and I need to get it done. I made a few CDs, but need to get some more mp3s before I can do more. It was excellent, although by Monday night I realised I wanted to go back to work, otherwise I'd have been bored if I'd had another day of that. Still didn't play any computer games though.

I went ice-skating on Saturday, which was really good. I realised I hadn't been for a year and I really missed it. The skates were horrible though, they really cut into my ankles, more than at Planet Ice or Ice Trax ever did. I must go more often though. It counts as exercise though. Which is good because I finally decided I need to do something about the stone I've put on since I left uni. Its horrible to think I actually have to do something, but more exercise (walking doesn't count because it doesn't seem to work for me), but eating less. The last time I did that was for an entirely different reason, but I did lose half a stone that way. So I'm not eating between meals now (except in the mornings when I'm at work because its such a long time between breakfast and lunch). Sadly I'm still in the hungry stage, but it'll go. It has to, otherwise I'm in danger of having even more problems buying clothes than I do now!

Leeds
Wednesday 21st August 2002 9:27 pm

Haven't updated for ages. What's been happening since then? I went up to Leeds for a long weekend, and it was really good to see all my friends. It was kind of scary at first as it was a strange Northern place with people whose accents I couldn't understand. But it was okay. The rows of terraced houses look really bad, and make it all look really dodgy, but it seems to be quite a cool place. And Stargate in Spanish, what can I say! Needless to say the trains were crap, and I left work at 5.30 and got to Leeds at 11.30 at night. Coming back took 6 hours as well. So I'll get 20 quid back off it, which is something.

I was the only person in my department last week, and to top it off I managed to get flu. It wasn't really bad, but worse than a bad cold. I felt crap, but I still had to go in and work form 8 till 6. I've now done 6 and a half hours extra since the start of July, and because our system's crap I don't get to see any of it. I might try for the sympathy vote though. So last weekend I spent lying on my bed watching Ewan McGregor. So it wasn't all bad! :) Not quite feeling better yet, but getting there. And not dreaming of work which is a big improvement.

I'm planning to work on the site this weekend. I might put it up before its done, because there's loads of stuff needs doing in the Bitz section, and because I'm moving servers and changing address I need to change things like guestbook, stats, webring, which of course isn't simple. I also want to go to STA Travel, I need to go to Tescos, and I want to play some computer games, as I haven't had the time for ages. And get Enigma out of the video shop, as it has Hywel on it.

Its worrying how being obssessed about Eastenders/Big Brother/football is considered normal but mention anything sci-fi (or even The Bill) and suddenly thats sad. Everyone at work seems to be getting married at the moment, which is quite sad too. Conversations in our office seem to involve houses or cars (the buying of). Both of which I've never done and have no intention of doing for a long time. So its not really a surprise that I don't really take part in them much. Don't think I'll have the energy for fencing tomorrow, which is kind of annoying because I miss it. But I do get to see The Kiss live. Not entirely certain its a good thing though!

Free Reg!

Trains
Thursday 8th August 2002 9:56 pm

I'm now a fully qualified first aider! I just hope I never have to use any of it. Its going to be really shit going back to work tomorrow now. Especially as I went in on my way home to find out I've got loads of work to do. I'm going to have to go in early as well, to get it all done. I can't leave late as I'm off to Leeds for a slightly long weekend. And if I leave work on time and Virgin is on time (v unlikely, I know) I'll get there about 10pm. Thats 4 hours on the train! And I can't not go because I've bought the ticket and it cost a small fortune. Coming back will be interesting though, as most of the trains seem to require you to go through London and my ticket doesn't allow that, as its more expensive to do it that way.

I did get my photos back from Wimbledon and the London Trip though, which was good. I've even put them on my website already. I reckon it'll have about 100 pages when its done, which is a lot to do in one go. It is down a lot from the 200 pages the old site has. I am getting there, I can see the end in site. I've got some updating and spell-checking to do, but otherwise only one section has lots of things missing that need doing. I must get an early night tonight, as it'll be an early morning, a long day and probably a late night.

Website
Tuesday 6th August 2002 7:45 pm

I have done some work on my website! Today I've done the photos pages (at least for the ones already there, haven't done the new ones yet). I had to do one of them twice though because I accidently overwrote it and it wasn't in the recycle bin as its still being crap. Remembered something I forgot from Tescos! My back hurts, I think from bending over at the first aid course. I will lie down and rest it soon (nearly Bill time). Its even nice enough today to peg my washing out, which is good.

I've also spent rather a lot of money on the SG3 and SG4 videos. I'll order the SG5 ones at SG5 I think, it'll be slightly cheaper at least. I was good and didn't buy any Ewan McGregor videos off Blackstar. I checked for The Bill videos and it said The Trial of Eddie Santini (despite not being out for very long) has been deleted! Which is actually quite annoying as I missed the end of the episode due to the video cutting out. Although its old news now.
