Flooding and fandom snowflake day 8
Wednesday 8th January 2014 7:57 pm
I have purposely skipped days 6 and 7, although I may come back to them later. Day 8 is:
In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are.
Consider this post my love meme.
But so it's not all about that, I have to be typically British and talk about the weather. Mainly because it's been exceptionally rainy and floody lately. My journey to work the past two days has taken twice as long because I have to go over the river and one of the bridges is closed due to flooding. Also I think some of the villages nearby have flooding too, so there are more people on the roads.
I've seen an aerial photo of one of the bridges that's still open and it's a long bridge with lots of arches underneath. Usually there's plenty of space to get boats beneath the arches. Now you're hard pressed to tell where the arches are. And I can't work out where the river banks are, except that there didn't used to be so many trees and buildings (and an outdoor swimming pool) in the river.
I got lucky, though, because I went to see Cats on Sunday in the city. The main road leading into it is flooded, so all the other roads are really busy, but that would have been the park & ride bus's problem. But worse than that, I suspect from what the people who live nearby said, the park & ride car park is flooded. And for a while the trains were cancelled due to the line being flooded. So getting there could have been interesting.
