Sarah took a deep breath and knocked firmly on Harry's door. As she waited, she shuffled her feet and looked around. It had been a couple of months since they last spoke and she could not be quite sure how he was going to react or whether he even wanted to speak to her any more.

As it turned out he merely looked slightly startled to see her before inviting her in and offering her tea, almost as if nothing had happened. He did not ask her how she was or make any non-tea related small talk, though, so she knew that was not the case. She waited until he had made the tea and she had his full attention before saying anything.

"I came to apologise," she said. "I've been an idiot about, oh, many things."

"Apology accepted."

He was obviously not going to help her but she carried on regardless. "Thank you for the money. And for not hating me."

"Do you need any more?"

She shook her head. "Aunt Lavinia loaned me enough to last a while. And she's making me stay with her after Christmas so..." She gave him a smile.

There was an uncomfortable silence while they both drank their tea. Sarah tried to work out what else she could do to repair their relationship. When she could not bear it any more she said, "Oh, god, Harry. I didn't mean for it to be like this. Can we be friends again?"

She stuck out her hand and he looked at it for a minute before gripping it with his and shaking. She smiled, then winced when the baby kicked. Harry frowned at her. She wished she did not need to discuss this at all but since it was half the cause of their argument in the first place, she was going to have to.

"The baby's awake and kicking me. Ow," she added, putting one hand on her stomach, as if that was going to make any difference.

Harry nodded. "You sound as if you're used to it."

Sarah sighed. "Keeps me awake, some nights."

He clasped his hands together in his lap and she noticed his gaze was directed at her stomach. She put her own mug down and shifted closer to him on the sofa. "Give me your hand."

"What?" He frowned at her.

"Just give me your hand, Harry."

He did as he was told and held his arm out. She took his hand and concentrated for a minute before placing it on her stomach. "Now wait," she said, hoping she had picked the right spot.

She had because not long after the baby kicked just where his hand was. He was still looking down but she saw his face light up.

"Are you sure that's a foot?" he asked.

"I was wondering if it was head-butting me. Either way, it's equally annoying."

He grinned at her and the baby kicked again.

"I'm sorry," she said, "for pushing you away."

He removed his hand and looked back up at her.

Something had occurred to her while watching him. "Harry, do you want to keep it?"

He frowned. "We already discussed this."

"No, I mean do you want to keep it? There are plenty of single fathers around now and it is allowed."

"But a child should have two parents."

"I managed fine with one."

"My job just doesn't fit with looking after a baby."

Sarah wondered what Harry felt for the baby, given he had not said he did not want to. He was only going to make this harder for her, but she would have to live with it for the sake of her friendship. "I have some forms for you to fill in," she said, pulling them out of her bag.

"We still have to discuss names," he said as he took them. "We should have something to put on the birth certificate."

"I don't know.” It really had not seemed that important to her, since the baby's parents would probably give it a new name anyway, but she knew he was right. “What did you have in mind?"

"Maybe Christopher or Jonathon, if it's a boy. Louise for a girl."

Sarah sounded them out in her head, with 'Sullivan' on the end and was not sure about any of them. "How about Elizabeth?"

"I thought you didn't have any names. Where did that one come from?"

"Just someone I remember when I was little who lived near us. Everyone thought she was a witch but she showed me all sorts of amazing things. She was known as Black Lizzie but..." She shrugged. She sometimes wondered if she would have been less accepting of the wonderful things she had seen with the Doctor if it had not been for Lizzie's stories.

"I'm not sure that's the best role model for our daughter." At her look he held up his hands. "Okay, Elizabeth it is."

"You choose the boy's name," she conceded.

"Well, I prefer Jonathon."

"Okay. But I hope it's a girl." She smiled to show him she did not mean it and he smiled back. "There's one other thing..." she began, knowing he was not going to like it.

"What's that, old girl?"

"I..." She took a sip of her tea, finding it had gone cold. "It's just that I don't want you there at the birth."

His face went blank at that and he stood, hands in his pockets, to look at the fireplace. "Why on earth not?"

"I don't want you seeing me like that."

"It's nothing I haven't seen before."

"But we're not together any more--"

"Obviously," he said, in a dry tone she chose to ignore.

"--and it doesn't seem right."

"Look who's lecturing me on what's right."

Sarah smiled. "I will call you. So you can see the baby before..."

"All right." He sighed and turned round. "You are going to have someone with you, though?"

"Yes, Aunt Lavinia will be there."

"Good. I'd hate to think of you giving birth alone."

"You're quite sweet sometimes, Harry." She stood and kissed him on the cheek. "Thanks for the tea. I should go and let you get on."

"Anytime. You will let me know how you're doing?"

"Of course. Maybe we could have dinner sometime."

"I'll look forward to it."

As she left, Sarah realised that now that she was on her way to correcting some of her mistakes, she was dreading the next few months much less.
