Summary: Gene has work to do.

At first Gene isn't sure what happened. Those men - they weren't kids and they had a shooter. He puts a hand up to his forehead, checks it's still there. His fingers don't come away bloody.

"Hunt!"

It's an unfamiliar man who's called his name, but Gene can see his Sergeant's stripes and, despite only a week in the job, he doesn't hesitate to obey.

"Sarge."

The Sergeant assigns him his beat and, together with another PC, he steps out of the station. He can barely remember the dream. He couldn't have been shot - who would cross Gene Hunt?

Summary: Gene has a problem with Alex.

Gene Hunt sat at his desk and looked out at CID. They were all working hard at solving the latest case, but Gene was watching Alex Drake. She'd trusted him before Keats showed up; she'd known he hadn't meant to shoot her. Now Keats was turning all of his team away from Gene and towards Keats. Chris and Ray were loyal, he was sure, but Drake was a bigger problem. Goodness knows what Keats had said to tempt her, but Gene had to get her trust back somehow. But nothing he did had worked and he was out of ideas.
