What I Just Finished Reading
Vicki in Venice by Lorna Hill. This arrived back in October and I was saving it, although I didn't know what for. Then I was ill after my Covid booster, didn't have the energy for anything that wasn't easy to read, so I read this. Although I found even this hard to get into. I really disliked that one of the main characters in this, Jon, has been asking Vicki to marry him for years, even though she's only 18 now. And then at the end he's basically organised their wedding and orders her to marry him. And of course she does, because it's that sort of book, even though she should have run a mile at that sort of behaviour.

Toksvig's Almanac 2021. Once I set out to get it finished, I did. Although it was interesting, I have immediately forgotten pretty much all of the women in there.

Just Ignore Him by Alan Davies. I knew this was going to be hard-going. I already knew his mother died when he was young because I went to his stand-up years ago and it was in his set. And I knew when the book came out that hew as abused as a child. But it was harder going than I expected because both of those things coloured his childhood so much. It's sad that he had to go through all of that and no one could see that his behaviour at the time meant that he needed helping.

What I'm Currently Reading
Nothing! I just literally finished Just Ignore him, then came to write this post.

Although I read the first quarter of Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. After that point I thought "Do I have to?" and then realised I didn't. It was just slow and I didn't care whodunnit.

What I'm Reading Next
Maybe some fiction, after all the non-fiction I've read. I have a Chalet School book by someone else that seems like just the thing to read next.

What I Just Finished Reading
Watching Neighbours Twice a Day by Josh Widdecombe. As the book got to the later 90s then I did watch some of the same thing as Josh, so it was a lot more like a nostalgia book. I enjoyed it, but it's not something I'd ever need to read twice.

And Away... by Bob Mortimer. All the comedians spent their downtime in 2020 writing books. I wasn't sure about this one because it's hard to know when he's telling the truth, even when not on WILTY, so I wasn't sure how true this would be. He does have some chapters with a set of stories from an era in his life and tells you in advance some are true and some are not. I have no idea which were true. But it was a really interesting read about his life, how he got into law and then comedy. And how he once took 16 sugars in his tea!

What I'm Currently Reading
Toksvig's Almanac 2021. I'm halfway through now. I'm going to get this finished by the end of 2021...

What I'm Reading Next
I don't know. I just looked at my books list on my Kobo and thought "Oh, I've got that". So whatever takes my fancy.

What I Just Finished Reading
Nothing, since last time.

What I'm Currently Reading
Toksvig's Almanac 2021. It is very interesting. There's a fact about a woman for each day of the year - usually either on the day she was born or died. Plus some women who don't fit into a date. And facts about each month at the beginning of each month and some other facts on interesting days. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a Sandi Toksvig book. It is good, but a bit dense and I was thinking I needed a break from it for a bit when a library hold came in.

Watching Neighbours Twice a Day by Josh Widdecombe. I wasn't sure about this book, so it being an ebook in my county library was great because I can read it for free. Having started it, I'm still not sure about it. It's about the TV he watched in the 90s when he was a kid. I am enjoying it, but I can't relate to it. So far all most of the programmes he's mentioned I've heard of and know that lots of kids at school watched, but I didn't.

What I'm Reading Next
So many choices, I don't know. Kobo finally started their Black Friday sale, days after everyone else, so I got a few 99p books. And then Chanukah started, so I got some ebooks as presents. To say nothing of the books in my to read crate or the books I bought in last year's Kobo Black Friday sale and haven't read yet...
